On the Convergence of the Origin of Chinese and Western Poetry

Abstract：The emergence of Chinese poetry is more than 2000 years earlier than that of the West.There are great differences between Chinese and Western ways of thinking and social ideology，and their understanding of the origin of poetry is also different.“Poetry expresses ambition” and “imitation theory” respectively represent Chinese and Western understanding of the origin of poetry，and they are quite different.However，there are many common factors in the different understanding of the origin of poetry between China and the West，which are very important for poetry.The main points are as follows：they all put forward emotional requirements for poetry；they all share the same understanding of the relationship between poetry and reality；they all emphasize the creativity of poetry.The study of the convergence of the origins of Chinese and Western poetry will help people better understand the essential law of poetry.
